Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3 Brings Back Colorful Weather Icons and a Sleeker Search Bar

Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3

Google has rolled out Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3, likely the final major beta release before the stable version arrives in September. This update focuses on refining user experience with visual tweaks, particularly in the At a Glance weather section and the Pixel Launcher search bar.

After experimenting with minimalist, white weather icons in earlier beta versions, Google is bringing back the vibrant and expressive weather visuals in this release. These icons are not only more visually appealing but also easier to distinguish at a quick glance—especially on the always-on display (AOD).

Additionally, the font size for weather and date information has been increased, making it more legible. The refreshed design appears on the homescreen, lockscreen, and AOD, enhancing clarity and functionality.

Another notable change is in the Pixel Launcher’s search field. Previously decorated with Google’s signature four-color icons, the search bar now adopts dynamically themed icons for Voice Search, Google Lens, and AI Mode. This shift aligns the search bar’s appearance with the rest of the home screen’s theme, offering a more seamless and less cluttered design.

The iconic gradient “G” logo remains prominent, ensuring that brand recognition is preserved while making room for a sleeker user interface. These updates extend to the top of the app drawer, creating visual consistency across the Pixel experience.

With Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3 likely being the last major update before the stable release in September, users can expect a polished and unified visual interface. These subtle yet impactful changes show Google’s continuous effort to blend form with function in its Android design philosophy.
