Google is expanding its fun and creative Androidify experience to Wear OS, allowing users to transform themselves into an Android bot and display it directly on their smartwatch. The feature brings a new level of personalization to Pixel Watch users, blending AI creativity with everyday wearable tech.
Turn Your Selfie Into an Android Bot
The Androidify app uses Google’s Gemini and Imagen AI models to convert a selfie into a classic green Android bot. Users can customize their digital avatar on their phone, fine-tuning the look before instantly transferring it to their watch face.
According to Google, the entire process takes only seconds, making it quick and accessible even for first-time users.
How to Use Androidify on Wear OS
To get started, users need to download the newly relaunched Androidify app from the Play Store. After snapping a selfie and completing the customization process, the app guides users through simple on-screen steps to push the design to their Pixel Watch.
Once transferred, users just need to approve the change on their smartwatch for the Android bot watch face to appear.
Powered by the New Watch Face Push API
This feature is part of Google’s newly introduced Watch Face Push API, announced in a developer blog post on December 18. The API allows apps to dynamically generate watch faces on a smartphone and send them directly to a Wear OS device.
Google says this approach makes personalization faster and more engaging while also giving developers tools to create highly customized watch face experiences.
Dynamic and Highly Personalized Watch Faces
With recent upgrades, Androidify can now generate watch faces dynamically inside the phone app before pushing them to the smartwatch. Users can instantly preview and apply their custom Android bot design, making the experience seamless and interactive.
The goal is to place a “highly personalized” visual right where users look most often throughout the day—their wrist.
Android Bots for Everyone
Androidify originally returned as part of a major Google update announced in September, with a strong focus on personalization. Beyond standard Android bots, the app allows users to reimagine themselves as superheroes, athletes, or other creative characters by entering a text prompt.
In this process, Gemini 2.5 Flash interprets the prompt, while Imagen generates the custom visuals. Google has even experimented with short animated clips using Veo 3, offering eight-second animations as a limited-time feature.
A Fun Step Forward for Wear OS Personalization
By bringing Androidify to Wear OS, Google is turning smartwatches into more expressive and personal devices. For Pixel Watch users, it’s a playful yet powerful example of how AI-driven customization is becoming a core part of the Android ecosystem.
