Apple has secured the third position in Cloudflare’s global Internet Services rankings for 2025, reinforcing its strong presence across the worldwide internet ecosystem. The ranking is part of Cloudflare’s annual year-in-review report, which analyzes global traffic patterns using large-scale DNS and network data.
According to the report, Apple consistently held the third spot for much of the year after surpassing TikTok early in 2025. While Apple and Microsoft alternated positions around mid-year, Apple ultimately closed the year firmly in third place. Microsoft’s services showed improved performance compared to the previous year, while TikTok dropped to the tenth position following a challenging year shaped by regulatory uncertainty.
In addition to service popularity, the report highlighted Apple’s impact on global mobile internet traffic. Devices running iOS accounted for 35% of worldwide mobile traffic in 2025, marking a modest year-over-year increase. Android devices continued to dominate overall mobile traffic with a 65% share, largely due to their broad availability across different price ranges and markets.
The data also revealed significant regional differences in mobile operating system usage. While Monaco stood out with iOS representing approximately 70% of mobile traffic, many countries showed overwhelming Android dominance. In at least 27 nations, Android devices generated more than 90% of mobile web traffic, particularly across parts of Africa and Asia.
Cloudflare’s analysis of mobile traffic is based on web request data, allowing it to identify client operating systems through device information shared during internet requests. This approach provides insight into how different platforms contribute to global internet usage trends throughout the year.
Beyond Apple-specific insights, the 2025 report pointed to broader shifts across the internet landscape. Global internet traffic grew by 19% during the year, with especially strong momentum beginning in August. Satellite internet usage also expanded rapidly, with traffic from low-Earth orbit services doubling and extending into more than 20 additional regions worldwide.
The report further noted evolving trends in artificial intelligence and search platforms, as well as the continued dominance of established search engines despite growing competition.
Overall, Apple’s third-place finish highlights the company’s sustained influence on global internet activity in 2025, driven by the continued growth of its ecosystem and increasing engagement from iOS users worldwide.
