Apple has released a suite of mid-year software updates, including iOS 18.6, macOS Sequoia 15.6, iPadOS 18.6, watchOS 11.6, tvOS 18.6, and visionOS 2.6, marking one of the final update rounds before the major iOS 26 launch later this year.
These updates primarily focus on critical security fixes, addressing over two dozen vulnerabilities across platforms—from WebKit and Metal API issues to networking and filesystem flaws. Notably, Apple confirmed none of the patched vulnerabilities are currently being exploited in the wild, but users are strongly encouraged to update promptly.
A major change for EU iOS and iPadOS users is the addition of features supporting third-party app store access and direct app downloads from websites. This move complies with the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), reflecting Apple’s growing adaptation to regional regulatory demands.
Apple is also ensuring continued support for older devices. Updates like iPadOS 17.7.9, macOS Ventura 13.7.7, and macOS Sonoma 14.7.7 deliver essential patches for users whose devices are not compatible with the latest major OS versions.
With iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 expected to arrive in the fall, these updates serve as the final security push for the current generation. Public betas for the next-gen releases have already been made available, signaling the company’s transition to its unified “version 26” platform across devices.
Whether you’re a general Apple user or a developer, it’s crucial to stay updated. While these aren’t feature-heavy releases, the underlying security improvements and compliance features—especially in the EU—make this round of updates highly significant.
