The creator of ChatGPT Meeting recording and connections with cloud storage providers like Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, SharePoint, and OneDrive are among the new enterprise-focused capabilities that OpenAI has released for its AI chatbot ChatGPT. By making it easier for users to search, summarize, and interact with their stored data, the upgrade seeks to increase company productivity.
New Feature: Notes and Meetings Record Mode
OpenAI explained Wednesday that ChatGPT users can now take notes during brainstorming sessions, meetings, and thinking-out-loud soliloquies by using “record mode.”
Connectivity to Cloud Storage Services
Users may now ask ChatGPT for information about their saved spreadsheets and documents, and it can link to Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, Sharepoint, and OneDrive.
These Features Are Available to who?
Only ChatGPT Team members (a subscription plan that costs $25 per person per month with an annual subscription of two or more users) can presently use the recording capability. Timestamped citations and action items are included in the transcriptions and notes.
Users using ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, or Edu—OpenAI’s student-focused product—can connect to third-party storage providers.
The Business Drive of OpenAI
The new functionalities are a cornerstone of OpenAI’s strategy to gain market share from high-spending enterprise AI clients. Less than a year after ChatGPT’s debut, in 2023, it introduced ChatGPT Enterprise, which has Block, Canva, The Estée Lauder Companies, and PwC as clients. Then, in January 2024, ChatGPT Team—a choice for smaller businesses or teams—was introduced.
The Race in the AI Industry Heats Up
The business is directly vying for high-paying enterprise AI clients with both startups and tech behemoths. In an industry-wide AI arms race that is expected to generate more than $1 trillion in income in less than seven years, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Anthropic are all vying for the same kind of business and are rushing to implement generative AI features for them.
