Google is bringing a major convenience upgrade to its popular keyboard app. The latest Gboard beta is rolling out ‘Autofill with Google,’ allowing users to quickly browse and fill saved passwords and credit/debit card details directly from the keyboard.

How ‘Autofill with Google’ Works in Gboard

Once the feature reaches your device, Gboard will prompt you to enable “Autofill with Google” in the system’s on-screen keyboard settings. After activation, it will appear as a shortcut in Gboard’s grid and can also be pinned to the suggestions strip for quicker access.

The shortcut’s icon is a square with an asterisk and a pencil in the corner. Tapping it opens a mini window within Gboard, offering two options:

  • Passwords: Shows credentials for the app you’re currently using.
  • Payment Methods: Displays your saved credit or debit card details.

Why This Update Matters

This update eliminates the need to wait for Gboard’s autofill suggestions to appear or to manually open Google Password Manager. Instead, users can instantly retrieve the login or payment details they need without leaving their current app.

The feature requires Google Play Services 25.30+ and is currently available for some users in the Gboard beta channel. Wider rollout is expected soon, but it’s not yet available for all devices.
