Google has revealed plans for a $15 billion investment in mid-Missouri, which includes the establishment of a new data center campus in New Florence.
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, who officially announced Google’s investment plans on Wednesday through a news release, stated that this investment will generate thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of direct, long-term operational positions once the data center facility becomes operational.
According to Kehoe, Google will cover 100% of the energy costs for the data center and any new infrastructure expenses that are directly associated with its operations.
“This project signifies more than just infrastructure – it’s an investment in the families and communities of Missouri, as well as a long-term opportunity,” Kehoe remarked. “We take pride in collaborating with companies like Google that are contributing to economic growth while making a significant impact in the communities they serve.”
Additionally, Google has introduced a $20 million Energy Impact Fund aimed at supporting initiatives that reduce monthly energy expenses for Missouri households, particularly in Montgomery County and the Kansas City area where data center operations are set to take place.
The data center in Montgomery County will implement advanced air-cooling technology, which will restrict water usage to essential needs such as kitchens, as noted by Kehoe.
The timelines for construction and other procedural steps are yet to be established.
