Google is releasing information about insulin resistance and blood pressure on the Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5

Google is now beginning to release blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and sleep breathing quality indicators, as was hinted at during the Pixel Watch 5 launch last month.

Health Guardian is Google’s overarching brand for the Pixel Watch’s suite of “proactive health and safety tools.” In Europe, the Pixel Watch 4 and 5 come with Breathing Emergency Detection.

Over the course of a month, your pulse and movement patterns are passively measured by the blood pressure trends feature. Its goal is to enable you to identify “persistent elevated cardiovascular tendencies early.” This was trained using billions of minutes of unprocessed heart and movement data, and it operates without a cuff or manual calibration. “At least 5 consecutive days in a week” of data are required.

Insulin resistance trends assess changes in metabolic health without requiring a blood draw by analyzing physiological data collected over several weeks. Google requires at least seven days’ worth of data per month, and insulin resistance affects how your body absorbs energy from food. Google’s largest sensor fundamental model is used in this feature. Over 1 trillion minutes of data from 5 million opted-in customers were used to pre-train it.

On the first day of the month, the Google Health app will display both sets of trend insights.

These three functions will also be available on the Fitbit Air “later this year” for Google Health Premium subscribers.
