Google has rolled out a new power-saving mode for Google Maps on the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, part of the November 2025 Pixel Drop update. This feature is designed for users who rely on their Pixel 10 as a navigation device during long drives and want to conserve battery life.
The power-saving mode works in portrait orientation and is accessible on your lock screen. When activated by tapping the power button, Google Maps switches to a simplified monochrome interface that retains the map layer while removing non-essential elements like current speed. The view focuses only on key details such as the next turn and estimated travel time, making it easier to follow directions with minimal distraction.
Swiping down allows access to notifications, and tapping the screen or pressing the power button reverts the app to the standard view. Power-saving mode automatically turns off once you reach your destination. Google claims this mode can extend battery life by up to four hours, which is especially useful for long drives where charging options are limited.
Currently, the feature is exclusive to the Pixel 10 lineup, though Google may expand it to other devices in the future. Users who prefer not to use power-saving mode can disable it by going to Settings > Navigation > Driving options in the app and toggling the feature off.
This update not only helps Pixel 10 users conserve battery but also provides a cleaner, less distracting navigation experience, potentially improving road safety during extended trips.
