Huawei is gearing up to unveil the second generation of its tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XTs, further cementing its lead in foldable innovation. The company teased the upcoming device ahead of its September 4th launch event in China, with pre-order registrations already live.
The Mate XTs keeps the core design language of its predecessor, including the ridged frame, octagonal camera housing, and the signature map-style tri-fold structure. What’s new this year is a white-and-gold colorway, adding a premium look to Huawei’s striking foldable. A purple variant has also been hinted at through leaks, though it hasn’t been officially revealed yet.
One of the biggest upgrades may be the addition of stylus support, a feature teased in Huawei’s promotional videos. This sets the Mate XTs apart from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, which dropped S Pen support with the Fold 7.
Under the hood, the Mate XTs is expected to be powered by the Kirin 9020-series processor with satellite connectivity, according to tipster Digital Chat Station. These upgrades aim to enhance both performance and communication reliability.
Huawei’s September 4 launch positions it ahead of Samsung in the tri-fold race, as Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Trifold is rumored to debut later this year. With Huawei moving quickly, it may gain a significant edge in the foldable segment before Samsung’s device hits shelves.
The Huawei Mate XTs blends refinement with innovation, offering new colors, stylus support, and upgraded hardware while retaining its bold tri-fold design. With its early launch, Huawei may once again set the pace for the next wave of foldable smartphones.
