Meta Signs $10 Billion Cloud Deal with Google to Strengthen AI Push

Meta Platforms has entered into a landmark six-year cloud computing agreement with Google, valued at over $10 billion, according to sources familiar with the deal. This strategic move marks Google’s second major cloud partnership in recent months, following its collaboration with OpenAI.

Under the agreement, Meta will leverage Google Cloud’s servers, storage, networking, and other services to scale its artificial intelligence operations. The deal underscores the increasing demand for cloud infrastructure as tech giants race to build massive AI-powered ecosystems.

The announcement comes shortly after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed plans to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in developing large-scale AI data centers. To meet these demands, Meta has raised its annual capital expenditures forecast to a range of $66–$72 billion, up by $2 billion from earlier projections.

In addition, Meta is exploring external partnerships to share the financial load of building its AI infrastructure. The company recently disclosed plans to offload $2 billion in data center assets to outside investors.

This partnership follows reports that OpenAI is also working with Google Cloud, despite being a competitor in the AI sector. Google Cloud, part of Alphabet, recently posted a 32% revenue jump in Q2, highlighting its growing dominance in cloud services.

By joining forces, Meta and Google are solidifying their positions in the competitive AI landscape, where access to powerful computing resources is becoming the backbone of innovation.
