NVIDIA has officially started selling its DGX Spark AI developer PC for $3,999, bringing the company’s full AI platform into a compact workstation suitable for labs or offices. The announcement comes months after the initial reveal of the DGX Spark, which NVIDIA touts as “the world’s smallest AI supercomputer.”
Unlike gaming PCs, the DGX Spark is designed for AI researchers, developers, and data scientists who need a powerful system to run advanced AI models, such as image generation or AI chatbot development. Early recipients include tech giants like Google, Meta, Microsoft, Hugging Face, and Anaconda, highlighting its target audience.
Compact Design with Powerful Specs
Despite its tiny 2.6-pound frame, the DGX Spark packs impressive hardware, including:
- GB10 Super System-on-Chip combining a 20-core ARM CPU with a Blackwell GPU equivalent in cores to an RTX 5070
- 128GB LPDDR5x RAM shared between CPU and GPU
- 4TB NVMe storage
- Four USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 7, and HDMI connector
The compact form factor makes it ideal for desktop use while providing enough computational power for demanding AI tasks. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang even delivered a unit personally to Elon Musk at SpaceX, showcasing its importance to industry leaders.
DGX OS and AI Software Integration
The DGX Spark runs NVIDIA DGX OS, a customized version of Ubuntu Linux preloaded with NVIDIA’s AI software stack. This allows developers to:
- Access NVIDIA AI models, libraries, and microservices
- Train and refine AI applications
- Develop machine learning projects efficiently in a small, office-friendly setup
With this system, NVIDIA provides a ready-to-use AI workstation without the need for complex hardware assembly or software installation.
Entry Point for Mini AI Workstations
The DGX Spark is considered an entry-level AI supercomputer, paving the way for more powerful machines. At Computex 2025, vendors like Dell, HP, Lenovo, and ASUS showcased similar mini PCs using the GB10 chip, including Acer’s Veriton GN100.
Looking ahead, NVIDIA plans the DGX Station featuring the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip, boasting 20 petaflops of performance and 784 GB of unified memory, though pricing has not yet been announced.
Pricing and Availability
The DGX Spark is priced at $3,999 and is available directly from NVIDIA and its official partners. While not cheap, the price reflects the cutting-edge hardware inside, making it an attractive option for AI developers seeking a high-performance, compact workstation.
The DGX Spark signals NVIDIA’s continued push to democratize AI computing, offering smaller organizations and individual developers access to a desktop-scale AI supercomputer. With its powerful GB10 chip and integrated AI ecosystem, the DGX Spark is poised to become a critical tool in AI research and development.
