Galaxy AI in One UI 8.5 Will Let You Mix and Match Images Using Simple Text Prompts

Galaxy AI

Samsung continues to lead the smartphone AI race, and its upcoming One UI 8.5 update is set to introduce a major upgrade to Galaxy AI’s image editing capabilities. A newly discovered feature in a leaked One UI 8.5 build reveals that users will soon be able to combine multiple images, add elements, remove objects, and modify photos with natural language commands—all directly from the built-in Galaxy Gallery app.

This enhancement builds on Samsung’s growing suite of generative AI tools, making creative editing faster and much more intuitive.

Mix and Match Elements From Different Images

In the leaked One UI 8.5 version for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, a new option appears under the Galaxy AI button inside the Gallery app. Through the updated Photo Assist section, users can now:

  • Add objects from other photos
  • Replace elements from one image with items from another
  • Combine two images into one
  • Use a text prompt to describe how the final image should look

For instance, if you’re editing a picture of your cat, you can select a ball of yarn from another photo in your gallery and instruct Galaxy AI to blend them naturally—creating a realistic scene of your cat playing.

This takes Samsung’s generative image editing to a new level, making it easier to build creative compositions without advanced editing skills.

Text Prompt Editing Directly Inside the Gallery

Currently, Samsung allows some text-based editing through Drawing Assist on select high-end devices. But One UI 8.5 expands this by offering a full text input field in Photo Assist.

Users can type commands such as

  • Remove the background.
  • Add clouds in the sky.
  • Place a cup on the table.
  • Blend this object into the photo.

The AI then uses generative AI to produce the requested edits seamlessly — all from within the Gallery app.

Feature Still Under Development

Although One UI 8.5’s Tips app highlights this new Galaxy AI capability, the feature does not yet work in the leaked build. It is also absent from the first beta of One UI 8.5 running on the Galaxy S25 series.

This suggests Samsung is still refining the tool. It may arrive in:

  • A future One UI 8.5 beta update
    or
  • The official release alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year

Either way, Samsung clearly plans to expand Galaxy AI even further, bringing advanced generative editing tools to more devices.

With One UI 8.5, Samsung is preparing one of the most powerful AI photo editing upgrades yet. The ability to mix and match elements from multiple images and edit photos with natural language prompts will give users creative control like never before. Once finalized, this Galaxy AI feature could set a new standard for mobile image editing.
