SEC sets conference-only football schedule beginning Sept. 26

The SEC embraced an arrangement to play a 10-game, conference only football plan beginning Sept. 26, the gathering reported Thursday.

A meeting just methodology had just been received by the Big Ten and Pac-12, while the ACC affirmed a 11-game calendar with the alternative of one non-gathering game played in the group’s home state. The Big 12 doesn’t yet have a conventional timetable arrangement, however Oklahoma and Kansas have each booked games for Aug. 29.

SEC outlines its own way

The 10-game SEC timetable will incorporate the customary six games against in-division adversaries, alongside four from the contrary division. Ordinarily, groups have just two inverse division rivals — one that is fixed every year and one that turns.

Rivalry games go on hiatus

Conventional contention games with non-SEC rivals — like Florida-Florida State, Georgia-Georgia Tech or South Carolina-Clemson — won’t be permitted, regardless of the ACC’s standards opening that window. Various different cross-meeting Power 5 matchups were cleared out.

“We believe these schedule adjustments offer the best opportunity to complete a full season by giving us the ability to adapt to the fluid nature of the virus and the flexibility to adjust schedules as necessary if disruptions occur,” Sankey said. “It is regrettable that some of our traditional non-conference rivalries cannot take place in 2020 under this plan, but these are unique, and hopefully temporary, circumstances that call for unconventional measures.”

The genuine timetables for each group will be declared sometime in the not too distant future.

The calendar redoing allegedly incorporates shielding national victor LSU including SEC games against Kentucky and Tennessee, while Alabama landing Florida and Vanderbilt to the gathering record.
