Sixers’ Joel Embiid suspicious for Game 5 versus Washington Wizards with a knee injury

The Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid is listed as dubious with right knee soreness for Game 5 against the visiting Washington Wizards on Wednesday night.

Embiid had a MRI on his right knee Tuesday and is relied upon to be evaluated further Wednesday, sources disclosed to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

He suffered the knee injury after a hard fall that took him out of the 76ers’ 122-114 Game 4 loss Monday night. The 76ers lead the first-round playoff series 3-1.

Embiid collided with the floor after he was met in the air at the rim by Wizards center Robin Lopez a little more than seven minutes into the game. Lopez neatly blocked the shot, however Embiid lost his balancein transit down and crashed onto his backside and instantly grimaced in pain.

He remained in the game after a timeout and completed the first quarter however was in some discomfort, keeping his lower directly down region. In the wake of settling up with the game in the last seconds of the first quarter, he went to the locker room, limping marginally, and stayed away forever.

Embiid had an effect in his time on the floor, scoring eight points with six rebounds, two assists and a steal in the first quarter. He went into the game averaging 30 points on 67% shooting in the series.
