Five new hues and a Siri makeover for a 2026 replacement for the $129 speaker are revealed in leaked Apple software graphics.
- Before any announcement, find images of the HomePod mini 2 hidden in Apple’s software files.
- Yellow and orange selections will be replaced by five new hues, including light blue and pink.
- Although Apple has not confirmed anything yet, expect a chip update from the outdated S5 processor.
Before any formal announcement, code hidden within Apple’s own software is said to have disclosed the next edition of the HomePod small. MacRumors claims that product images branded “HomePod mini 2” surfaced in Apple’s software files, showing a small, cloth-covered speaker that is almost exactly like the $129 model that is currently on sale.
Nothing has been confirmed by Apple. The device’s specifications, cost, and release date are yet unknown.
The code discovery aligns with more general predictions that Apple may release a revised HomePod small at some point in 2026, maybe in conjunction with a new Mac small. There is no official launch date or event.
New Palette, Same Shape
The spherical form factor that has characterized the HomePod mini since its 2020 launch is depicted in the leaked images. The well-known fabric-wrapped orb has been updated in color, but there has been no major makeover or new silhouette.
Green, pink, light blue, white, and black make up the alleged five-color lineup. According to reports, Apple’s current lineup colors, yellow and orange, are no longer available.
Compared to the current blue choice that is currently on sale, the new light blue seems to be a lighter tint. This distinction is not based on an official Apple color designation or specification, but rather on how MacRumors interpreted the artwork.
The palette adjustment will be significant for consumers who select Apple gear in the same manner that others select sneaker colorways. What Apple may have changed inside is the more important question for everyone else.
The Chip Apple Refuses to Discuss
Apple’s S5 chip, which made its debut in the Apple Watch Series 5 in 2019 and is now several bespoke silicon generations behind Apple’s current range, powers the HomePod mini. A hardware update in the replacement would be totally conceivable after years of using the same processor. It is also completely unverified.
The HomePod mini 2’s processor, memory, audio hardware, and connectivity specifications are not identified in any trustworthy report linked to the existing research.
A more intriguing indication is provided by separate HomePod software code. According to MacRumors, Apple’s HomePod Software 27 includes updated Siri status lights and sounds, as well as references to a more powerful Siri system called “Linwood.” That is evidence at the software level rather than a verified feature of the HomePod mini 2; the distinction is important because updated software may be compatible with new models, old hardware, or both.
An additional level of intricacy: there are rumors of an additional Apple smart-home hub with a tiny display and a form factor that looks like a HomePod mini cut in half. It is unclear how it relates to the HomePod mini 2, and Apple has not verified that either.
What the Current Model Is and When It Could Be Replaced
In October 2020, Apple released the first HomePod small, which cost $99. It has four microphones, Thread networking, AirPlay, Bluetooth 5.0, and weighs less than one pound. It is 3.3 inches tall. The price is currently $129 in the United States.
The stated color scheme by itself is probably not going to be enough to convince you to upgrade if you have a first-generation HomePod mini. A confirmed chip announcement or an invitation to an Apple event that resolves the hardware question is the stronger signal to watch for.
Everything that is visible in the code is a preview, not a promise, until Apple speaks.
