The update enhances one of the key benefits of Xbox Game Pass — game streaming — which now also includes titles players own, even if they are not part of the Game Pass library.
1440p Streaming Comes to Xbox Consoles
With this update, players using the following consoles can stream games at 1440p resolution:
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- Xbox One X
- Xbox One
The higher bitrate streaming option allows for clearer visuals, provided both the game and the connected display support 1440p output.
Previously, 1440p streaming was limited to select smart TVs — including Fire TV, LG, and Samsung models — web browsers, and the Xbox PC app. Now, the feature is finally expanding to consoles, though it remains exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers for now.

Microsoft is also enhancing the Xbox experience on PC. The updated Xbox PC app now includes new “navigation sounds” when users interact with the interface via a controller.
