Dyson Unveils PencilVac: A Superslim Smart Vacuum Cleaner

Dyson has officially introduced the PencilVac, which it claims is the world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner. Measuring just 38mm in diameter—the same as the Supersonic hair dryer—it weighs under four pounds and looks more like a broom than a traditional vacuum.

Ultra-Slim Yet Powerful

The PencilVac is powered by Dyson’s smallest and fastest motor, spinning at 140,000 RPM and producing 55 AW of suction. Despite its compact size, the PencilVac includes a two-stage dust filtration system that minimizes clogging and preserves performance as the dustbin fills up.

Fluffycone Cleaning Head with LED Lights

Replacing the Omni-Glide, the PencilVac introduces Fluffycone brush bars—four conically shaped spinning brushes designed to prevent hair tangling and improve edge cleaning. Paired with green LED lights, the vac highlights dust and debris for thorough cleaning on hard floors.

Smart Features & MyDyson App

For the first time, a Dyson vacuum connects to the MyDyson app, providing:

  • Cleaning and maintenance alerts
  • Filter cleaning notifications
  • Additional customization settings

A built-in LCD screen shows battery life and cleaning mode in real-time. The PencilVac also docks magnetically for easy charging and storage.

Compact Trade-Offs

The PencilVac is optimized for hard floor cleaning only and doesn’t convert into a handheld vacuum. The 30-minute runtime on the lowest setting may seem short, but swappable batteries help extend usage.

While launching in Japan later in 2025, the PencilVac will arrive in the US in 2026. Pricing has yet to be announced.
