Expected to debut this summer, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is most likely the next iteration of Samsung’s folding smartphone. It also appears to have a boxier shape this year, with squared edges identical to those on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
OnLeaks, a regular source of gadget news leaks, and the website Smartprix released renders, or pictures of the folding phone based on rumors and leaks, online on Wednesday. Without providing further details, Smartprix stated that it worked with OnLeaks to present the renders.
Regarding the inner and outer screens, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 renders show that it will largely be the same size as its predecessor. Slots for SIM cards, USB-C ports, and volume buttons remain the same, and according to Smartprix, even the cameras will probably make use of the same sensors as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 from now on. As for the new Galaxy AI features that were unveiled in January, such search and live translation, Smartprix stated that it anticipates the Z Fold 6 to be particularly notable.
Anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 6 may improve Samsung’s standing as a competitor to Apple and its iPhones, as well as Google and its Pixel smartphones. Folding phones, which are popular among techies, are frequently positioned as the next advancement in smartphone design, going beyond the slabby, flat phones of today.
However, the cost of folding phones is a major drawback. Prior to sales and promotions, Samsung’s Z Fold 5 was priced at $1,800, which was significantly more than the $800 base price of the Galaxy S24 phone series. They are also brittle, however Samsung has made steady improvements in that area. According to Samsung, the Z Fold 5 features a revolutionary hinge design that allows the phone to close fully, without any gaps, and increases the device’s durability.
The summer Unpacked event and the release date of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 have not yet been revealed by the Korea-based tech behemoth. However, both appear more and more realistic, especially in light of Samsung’s earlier this year leaks on its Galaxy Ring smart health tracking device. Over time, the Galaxy Ring has emerged as one of CNET’s most eagerly awaited product releases of the year.
