Saint Laurent is back with star-studded Jim Jarmusch short film ‘French Water’

In December, Saint Laurent appeared a moody short film directed by the supreme Gaspar Noe named Summer of ’21 which exhibited the most recent collection from the house’s Anthony Vaccarello. Saint Laurent is back with another experimental short, this one directed by independent auteur Jim Jarmusch. It’s named French Water and it highlights Julianne Moore, Chloë Sevigny, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Indya Moore and Leo Reilly.

The 9-minute story unfurls during a dinner party including a solitary waiter, played by Reilly (son of actor John C. Reilly), as he notices the well-heeled guests (Sevigny and the two Moores) as they look for Gainsbourg in an enormous venue. The actresses change groups instantly, each wearing pieces from Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection. Vaccarello additionally took part in this production, serving as art director.

“The dinner party is over,” reads an official description of the film. “A lone waiter is watching guests search for Charlotte. The echoes of their whispers multiply. Anthony Vaccarello chose Jim Jarmusch to orchestrate a dreamy, surreal ballet, following his own rules. Mysterious, elusive Charlotte keeps disappearing and reappearing. Tangled until creating a form of vertigo, space and time spin beautifully. Into eternity.”
