‘Black Mirror’ group’s ‘Death to 2020’ extraordinary hits Netflix on December 27th

The group behind Black Mirror are back with their most recent project, and as opposed to recounting one more tale about how technology could destroy our lives, they have 2020 immovably in their crosshairs. The show’s makers, Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones, have made a mockumentary called Death to 2020, which will hit Netflix on December 27th.

The extraordinary, which “tells the story of the dreadful year that was” as per its synopsis, mixes news film with appearances (and presumably acidic comments) from fictional characters. The trailer incorporates some of the notable faces who show up in Death to 2020, for example, Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Lisa Kudrow, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracey Ullman, Leslie Jones, Cristin Milioti and Joe Keery.

The mockumentary seems to be more along the lines of Brooker’s Wipe series than Black Mirror, yet from a daintily fictionalized point of view. Notwithstanding, Brooker and Jones couldn’t avoid at least one dive at the year in tech — there’s a strong Quibi gag in the trailer.
