Disney+ proposes a “Nautilus” TV series

Disney+ has reported they will create a new ten-part live-action series reconsidering of Jules Verne’s classic underwater adventure “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”.

Named “Nautilus,” the series is being produced by Moonriver TV and Seven Stories and plans to serve as an origin story of Captain Nemo and his legendary submarine.

An Indian prince robbed of his birthright and family, a detainee of the East India Company and a man twisted on vengeance against the forces which have taken everything from him – Nemo set sail with his ragtag crew on board the awe-inspiring vessel, doing combating adversaries and finding magical underwater worlds.

The series is composed and executive produced by James Dormer (“Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands”) and executive produced by Johanna Devereaux. Filming is set to begin in mid 2022.

Disney broadly adapted the novel back in 1954 with James Mason as Nemo and Kirk Douglas as Ned Land.
