Reface, formerly known as Doublicat, became the first Ukrainian apps to reach such heights on the world charts.

There are various other Ukrainian apps that grabbed attention at a global level including Grammarly, TravelPost, and Fander. However, the popularity pace of Reface is exceptional as compared to these Ukrainian apps. Sergey Tokarev shared his views about the exceptional performance of this face replacement giant.

The users of the app create hundreds of thousands of videos every day by using this app.

Jerry Heil, a Ukrainian singer, worked with RefaceAl to create a video, #Blogger, in which the face-swapping technology was used extensively.

The app creators said that the app grew by 90% organically. The app also grabbed the attention of famous media outlets including Forbes, Techcrunch, Mashable, and VICE. Sergey Tokarev said, “In 65% of cases, users post videos and photos created in Reface on their social media accounts.” The media outlets mentioned the app almost 600 times so far at the global level.

Sergey Tokarev About Reface Technology

Sergey Tokarev expressed his views on the technology used in Reface, “If you compare it to analogs, the advantage of Reface is that the technology incorporated into it does not just replace one face with another with good quality, but does it in real-time, literally in seconds.” Reface works on the GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) machine learning algorithm. The RefaceAI team worked on the development of this technology in-house. The competitors of Reface mostly use the CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) technology. Moreover, Reface is more keen to pay attention to safety and social responsibility. The company is developing software to detect fake videos created by using face replacement technologies.
